My name is Manon, I’m a French girl and I am always ready for new adventures!
With the help of GVI, I will be taking part in a women’s empowerment program in Laos, for 3 weeks. My internship aims to support the emancipation and social well-being of women through teaching and facilitating life skills and health workshops.
Currently studying at King's College London, completing a bachelor's degree in Culture, media and creative industries - gender equality is a very important cause in my eyes. I've always been looking for a way to contribute in scale, in my own way, and what better way than to combine my passion for travel and this wonderful cause, which I plan on pursuing as a career!
From a young age, I have traveled across continents to discover our world, and today, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and go alone.
You might be wondering how am I going to acquire all of this knowledge? Before my departure, GVI provides me with online and in-country training to teach me the basics of the culture and Laos language. I will also complete an introduction to Teaching English in a Foreign Language (TEFL) as well as women’s empowerment training.
I recently read a quote that said: "Feminism isn't about making women stronger. Women are already strong, it's about changing the way the world perceives that strength" - which made me realized how true that is With respect for culture, I would like to help these women show the world their incredible values, their beauty and what constitutes their strength.
Today, you have the chance to be able to help those women, by helping me achieve my goal.
And don’t forget, every woman is capable of great things!
