Fund : Laos Women’s Empowerment Short Term Internship

Hi!

My name is Manon, I’m a French girl and I am always ready for new adventures!

With the help of GVI, I will be taking part in a women’s empowerment program in Cambodia, for 3 weeks. My internship aims to support the emancipation and social well-being of women through teaching and facilitating life skills and health workshops.

Currently studying at King's College London, completing a bachelor's degree in Culture, media and creative industries - gender equality is a very important cause in my eyes. I've always been looking for a way to contribute in scale, in my own way, and what better way than to combine my passion for travel and this wonderful cause, which I plan on pursuing as a career!

From a young age, I have traveled across continents to discover our world, and today, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and go alone.

You might be wondering how am I going to acquire all of this knowledge? Before my departure, GVI provides me with online and in-country training to teach me the basics of the culture and Laos language. I will also complete an introduction to Teaching English in a Foreign Language (TEFL) as well as women’s empowerment training.

I recently read a quote that said: "Feminism isn't about making women stronger. Women are already strong, it's about changing the way the world perceives that strength" - which made me realized how true that is With respect for culture, I would like to help these women show the world their incredible values, their beauty and what constitutes their strength.
